The Hit of the Year, First Runner Up: Orange Crush’s Elmer Fandery hits Reckoning’s Brian Anderson

I will be the first to admit that I didn’t understand the true greatness of this hit when I initially saw it. It happened on the far side of the track from where I was sitting and while I made note of it, I didn’t think much about it after it happened. I wrote up my awards column for the night in question, turned it in on Monday and then got to see some close up footage of this crash. It appeared as though Orange Crush’s Elmer Fandery was trying to mount Reckoning’s Brian Anderson with his car.

It was an amazing hit.

So I rectify this situation here.

Anderson was cruising down the front straight away very near to the wall. Fandery streaked across the track and solidly collided with him. Upon impact, Fandery’s front end skidded up onto Anderson’s hood where it stayed for a brief second before returning to the ground. A great all around hit.
